Celebrate the Bump! Your guide to Maternity Photography in Ely with Photographvie

There is something magical about the anticipation of a new baby arriving. Your body is doing something incredible, and while you might feel more "tired" than "top model" right now, these are moments you’ll want to look back on forever.

Whether it’s your first baby or a new addition to the family, a maternity session is about more than just photos - it’s about celebrating the start of a brand-new journey.

Why Book a Maternity Session?

Many mums-to-be feel a bit hesitant about being in front of the camera, but my goal is to make you feel empowered and beautiful.

* Capture the Magic: honestly you wont regret having professional photos of your bump, rather than a mirror selfie - choose flattering poses, professional lighting and some time for you.

* Involve the Whole Family: Partners, siblings, and pups are always welcome! For older children it includes them in the process, if you missed maternity photos first time, what better way to include those babies in these too.

* The Perfect Prelude: Maternity photos pair perfectly with newborn sessions. We can do the most gorgeous transitional poses with the "bump" and then the baby.

When is the Best Time to Book?

Timing is everything to ensure you have a lovely round bump but aren't feeling too uncomfortable!

* I usually recommend booking your session for when you are between 32 and 36 weeks pregnant.

* Twins or Multiples: Things tend to happen a little earlier here! For twins, I suggest booking around 30 to 32 weeks.

What to Wear & What to Bring

Your session should reflect your style. Whether you want something professional and sleek or soft and natural, we can make it happen.

* Your Own Style: You are absolutely welcome to bring your own clothes. A simple pair of jeans and a white shirt creates a timeless, relaxed look. I do have a variety of maternity gowns you’re very welcome to wear too.

* The Personal Touch: I love it when clients bring along items for the baby. Cuddly toys look adorable against the bump and can be used again in your newborn shoot for a sense of scale.

* Pinterest Inspiration: Found a pose you love? Show me! I’m always open to new ideas and happy to give them a try to ensure you get exactly what you envisioned.

Mini vs. Full Shoot: Which is Right for You?

The mini session offers a quick update or a few specific shots of the bump. One main setup and outfit and will take place in the Ely studio.

The full shoot is more of a relaxed experience with multiple outfits and poses, taking time to try a variety of ideas. This can take place at the studio, outdoors locally or in can come to you at home.

Real Talk: "How Does the Editing Work?"

I believe in keeping things authentic.

You are part of the process! My standard editing focuses on lighting and color to make the images pop. I don’t airbrush your body unless you specifically ask me to. I want you to recognise yourself in these photos - beautiful and exactly as you are but if you would feel more confident without a few stretch marks - say no more! There’s no right or wrong answer to this, its a personal thing.
